Who is on the Oleta Lane Films team?
I’m the team! My name is Kendall and I've been a one-woman show for the past four years!
How long will it be before I see my film?
Birth: You can expect to see this film within a week of delivery, making it the perfect way to announce bub's arrival to family and friends both near and far.
Weddings: Highlight films will be to you in approximately 2 weeks, with the full length film being delivered within 3 months of the wedding date.
It’s a weird name – what’s that about?
Oleta Lane is named after my two grandmothers – Oleta (pronounced Oh-lee-ta) and Elaine. They were both matriarchs and have always been huge inspirations to me.

What’s your gear like?
I shoot with a Canon EOS 5D Mark III. I record audio with a Zoom H4N, and Sennheiser EW 112P Wireless Lavalier System. I use a Zhiyun Crane Plus, a monopod, and my rock-solid hands for stabilizing.
How long have you been shooting video?
Basically my whole life. I was the kid who brought her dad’s video camera to school to film my classmates at recess and then edit it all to the Pocahontas soundtrack. But seriously, I started filming weddings in 2017 and never looked back. While I still consider my film business to be beginning, I have shot over 20 weddings since 2017, so this is no longer my first rodeo.
Can you do drone footage for a wedding?
I do not have a drone because I am a one-person team. Meaning, 100% of my time is spent focusing on whatever is happening around the couple getting married. Drone footage is spectacular, but my #1 concern is capturing those little things that happen when no one is looking.
How do you choose the music for the highlight video (weddings)?
What a lot of my clients don't realize initially, is that all music used HAS to be licensed, period. There's no way around that, unfortunately. So while I would love to be able to use your favorite song or the song you walked down the aisle to, popular songs are very, very expensive to license.
I take choosing the music very seriously; it takes me anywhere from 1-4 hours of sitting and listening to different songs over and over to make a decision (and even then sometimes longer!). I choose the music for your video based off of the vibe of your day. I take into account the music you played, and any comments you may have made in passing regarding music.
It's honestly one of the hardest parts of this job -- nailing the music.
What’s the craziest thing that's happened to you at a wedding?
While I was recording a private vow exchange between the bride and the groom, a golf ball literally flew 2 feet away from my head and landed in the bushes next to us. The bride and groom didn't see it happen, but I SURE DID. Also a bridesmaid almost set my hair on fire once.
What do you do when you’re not filming and editing?
My husband and I just moved internationally from Seattle, WA to Sydney, NSW so I now
spend a lot of my time checking my shoes for spiders, swimming, cooking with ingredients like capsicum and coriander, and discovering what Netflix Australia has to offer.
Do you only film weddings?
No! I do it all; weddings are just one of the most popular items. I can do packages for promotional videos, events, engagements, retirements, memorials; you name it.
